God's call doesn't always come at a convenient time in our lives.

Many who sense God leading them into ministry are already balancing careers, raising families, serving faithfully in their local churches, or transferring into the Church of the Nazarene from another denomination. They need a way to prepare for ministry without putting life on hold.

That's why the District Ministry Training Centre (DMTC) exists.

As a ministry of the Canada Central District, the DMTC provides affordable, accessible, and high-quality ministry education. Our courses equip men and women on our district for pastoral ministry that meets the educational requirements for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.

Our students aren't all the same. Some are experienced lay leaders taking the next step. Others are parents, working professionals, or those responding to God's call later in life. What they share is a desire to faithfully serve Christ and His Church.

Our new academic year begins this September with The Moral Shape of Christian Ministry, followed by Church Administration and Finance in November.

Ministry isn't simply about what we believe. It's also about how we lead, serve, respond to conflict, and represent Christ in a complicated world.

This fall, the District Ministry Training Centre is offering The Moral Shape of Christian Ministry, a practical and biblical course that explores Christian ethics, pastoral integrity, conflict resolution, discipleship, preaching, pastoral care, and leadership.

Together, students will wrestle with questions such as:

• How do we lead with integrity when ministry gets difficult?
• How do we navigate conflict in ways that reflect Christ?
• How do we address cultural issues with both truth and grace?
• What habits help ministers flourish for the long haul?

Throughout the course, students will develop a personal Ministry Code of Ethics, prepare lessons for church members on Christian living, and craft a sermon that applies God's new creation vision to everyday life.

Whether you are pursuing district licensing, serving in ministry, or exploring God's call, this course will help you grow as a thoughtful, faithful, and Christlike leader.

“How is it that each of us hears them in our native language?” Acts 2:8

Pentecost reminds us that the Gospel was always meant for all people. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, ordinary believers were empowered to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ in ways people could hear, understand, and respond to.

The Holy Spirit did not simply build the Church. He sent the Church.

At DMTC, we are passionate about equipping pastors and ministry leaders to faithfully communicate the Gospel in their own communities and contexts. As Nazarenes, we believe the Holy Spirit still calls, forms, and empowers men and women for ministry, discipleship, preaching, and service today.

We are grateful for every student responding to God’s call and preparing to help others hear the Gospel clearly and faithfully.

We’re transitioning to the new Non-Degree Course of Study (NCOS) in partnership with Ambrose University in Calgary.

This aligns our district with the updated educational model across the USA/Canada Church of the Nazarene. While the academic structure is changing, DMTC remains your hub for communication, facilitation, and support.

Starting Fall 2026, courses will include video teaching from Nazarene professors, with discussion and guidance led by our local facilitators. There will also be fewer required courses.

Christian Theology I has officially begun through the NCOS at the District Ministry Training Centre in partnership with Ambrose University.

This new format is different from past courses. Students now watch lecture videos ahead of time, then gather with a local pastor who facilitates discussion, questions, and deeper exploration of what they’re learning together.

Happy Mother’s Day to the students and staff of the District Ministry Training Centre. 🌷

The women in our DMTC community are mothers and grandmothers, but also pastors, ministry leaders, teachers, caregivers, volunteers, and disciples. Many are working full-time jobs while studying, writing papers, attending classes, serving in their churches, and responding faithfully to God’s call on their lives (and making dinner too!)

Today, we want to honour the women who are investing deeply into their spiritual growth, theological education, and ministry training so they can serve the Church well.

Thank you. The work you are doing matters. The Kingdom is being strengthened through your obedience to God’s Call.

Our prayer today is that as you minister to others in your churches and communities, you would also be ministered to. That you would feel seen, appreciated, encouraged, loved, and deeply valued.

Christian Theology I begins tomorrow!

This marks an important first for the District Ministry Training Centre as we begin offering courses through Ambrose University as part of the new Non-Degree Course of Study (NCOS) being rolled out across our region.

Please pray for Dr. Lisa Outar-O’Shea as she leads this course, and for the many students from across our district who are enrolled in this course.

Throughout this course, students will explore Wesleyan-holiness theology and grow in their ability to preach, teach, disciple, evangelize, and provide pastoral care. They’ll also study the development of Christian theology, learn to recognize historical and contemporary heresies, and develop skills for forming people theologically in age-appropriate ways.

As the DMTC continues to navigate this significant transition to NCOS, we would deeply appreciate your prayers for wisdom, grace, adaptability, and encouragement for everyone involved.

Meet our director - Pastor Tamara Hudson.

Here are three reasons why Pastor Tamara is perfect for this role:

👉 She knows what it is like to prepare for ordained ministry as an adult. She started as a registered nurse but responded to God's call and now has her MA degree in Theology.

👉 She has a passion for adult education and ministry - serving in this field for decades.

👉 She is a pastor (and a wife and mother who knows how busy life is!)

Here is her full bio!

Rev. Tamara Hudson (MA, OCELT) is the Director of the District Ministry Training Centre. As a former Registered Nurse, she is a graduate of Mohawk College and Brock University. She graduated with a MA degree in Theology from Nazarene Theological College/University of Manchester, UK in 2013. Previously she served for almost 20 years on the Central Europe Field as a Global Missionary for the Church of the Nazarene where she was involved in health care, church development, and equipping women and men for ministry. She served as Administrator of the Romania Learning Centre for European Nazarene College and as District Superintendent in Romania (2011-2016). She is currently pastoring at Niagara Heights Church of the Nazarene.

Apart from leading the DMTC, Tamara also teaches in the areas of missions, English, and spiritual formation. Tamara loves language and culture and since her return to Ontario has become a certified ESL teacher.

Tamara loves spending time in the outdoors, preferably in the family’s old red canoe, or on a trail in the woods.

Christian Theology I (formerly Systematic Theology I) starts May 7. Weekly online sessions, with teaching through video and discussion led by Pastor Lisa Outar-O'Shea.

This is our first course in the new NCOS format with Ambrose University.

Many of our students are on the journey toward ordination in the Church of the Nazarene.

An important step along that path is receiving a district licence. This week, several of our students met with the District Board of Ministry to share their story, reflect on their calling, and continue moving forward in the process of credentialing.

Through the District Ministry Training Centre (DMTC), the Canada Central District comes alongside these leaders with affordable, accessible ministry education, helping them grow in both calling and preparation for ministry.

In this course you’ll explore practices that help Christians grow deeper with Christ. Together we’ll look at Scripture, prayer, silence, journaling, and other spiritual disciplines that open our lives to God’s grace and shape us to become more like Jesus.

As we begin Lent, we step into a season of repentance, renewal, and surrender to God’s transforming grace. This is a time to examine our hearts, turn again to Christ, and be formed more deeply in his likeness.

Through the DMTC, leaders on our district are being shaped for faithful ministry in a broken world. As we walk the road to the cross, we pray for hearts renewed by grace, lives formed in Christ, and leaders equipped to serve with humility, courage, and hope.

Spiritual Formation with Rev. Craig Summerfield is coming next term. This course connects Christian doctrine with real growth through Scripture, spiritual disciplines, and Christian community, helping you move toward wholeness in Christ.

The course begins with an in-person session on March 28, followed by Thursday evening online classes in April. Registration opens next month, so now is a good time for students and ministry leaders to plan ahead. Tuition is $150, and ordained CCD pastors attend at no cost.

Global Evangelism - Registration now open

A practical, required course for those pursuing ordination in the Church of the Nazarene. This class grounds evangelism in Scripture and theology, with clear application for local and global ministry.

Taught by Rev. Terry Michael Hudson, he brings deep experience as a longtime global missionary in Albania and Romania, a local pastor, and a graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary with a concentration in missions.

Silent Night was first sung on Christmas Eve in 1818 in a small village church in Austria. The words were written by a young priest, Joseph Mohr, and the melody was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber. It was a quiet song for a quiet moment, shaped by hardship and longing after years of war in Europe. The carol speaks softly, yet its message is bold.

At the centre of the song is this declaration: Christ the Saviour is born. Christmas is not only about peace, light, or wonder. It is about salvation. God has come near in Jesus to rescue, restore, and reconcile.

As we celebrate Christmas, we join generations of believers who have sung these words in humble churches and crowded sanctuaries alike. With joy and gratitude, we proclaim again what the angels announced and the carol echoes: Christ our Saviour is born.

On this Sunday of Advent, we pause to reflect on love. Advent reminds us that Christmas begins with God’s love for the world. A love that gives, restores, and invites us to trust Him. As we wait and prepare, we receive that love again and allow it to shape how we love others.

Global Evangelism (OTR 2013)

Global Evangelism explores God’s mission in Scripture and the Church’s call today. This course is ideal for students (it's mandatory for ordination) but it's also great for lay leaders and pastors.

Pastors in our district may audit the course at no cost and earn lifelong learning hours.
